Yale's Cancer Survivorship and Sexuality Symposium

April 23, 2010

Yesterday, the Connecticut Challenge Survivorship Clinic at Yale Cancer Center and Yale School of Medicine held its annual symposium.  Almost 80 people filled the New Haven Lawn Club for a course entitled “Sexuality and Cancer Survivorship”. Speakers from Yale, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center discussed both men’s and women’s issues including “Sexuality after Prostate Cancer”, “Fertility and Survivors of Childhood Cancers”, and “Menopause and Cancer Survivors”.  The Keynote Presentation was given by Dr. Sharon Bober, Director of the Sexual Health Program at the Perini Family Survivor’s Center at Dana Farber.  Bob Mazzone, the CT Challenge Executive Director, led off the morning with the video about our bike ride to lend inspiration to the participants.  Thanks to everyone at Yale for engaging much-needed discussion about this topic and staging such a terrific event.
