Valley-Shore YMCA Teams with Middlesex Hospital for Survivors
April 6, 2010
The Valley-Shore YMCA has teamed up with Middlesex Hospital to provide an exercise program to cancer survivors. The Cancer Survivor Program provides exercise with a certified personal trainer for 90 minutes, twice a week for 3 months. The Program is free to survivors and also includes a YMCA membership. Each program is individually created based on the health concerns and needs of the participant and includes a cardiovascular workout, resistance training, and stress reduction and relaxation. The first session is currently underway and the second session will begin in June. The CT Challenge applauds the efforts of the Y and Middlesex and encourages other fitness facilities and hospitals to look at providing a similar program.
Stacey McGee is the Branch Director at the YMCA and welcomes all those who are interested in creating their own program to give her a call at 860-399-9622 or email her at smcgee@vsymca.org.
