Yale Cancer Center Invites Survivors to Celebrate Cancer Survivors Day

New Haven, Conn. – On Wednesday, June 3, 2009 Yale Cancer Center will host a unique
program for cancer survivors and their families in celebration of National Cancer
Survivors Day. The event, titled Dedicated to Living, will be held at Yale’s West Campus
and will feature a special keynote address by Dr. David Katz, Associate Professor of
Public Health and Director of the Prevention Research Center.
Hosted by Dr. Mel Goldstein, cancer survivor and senior meteorologist on WTNH
Channel 8 News, the event is free and open to the public. Registration will begin at 9:15
a.m., at Yale’s West Campus, 141 Frontage Road in Orange, CT. The program will
begin at 10:00 a.m., and will include a luncheon for all attendees.
Dr. Katz will address the topic, Feeding your Recovery: We are what we Eat, Even after
Cancer. In addition, participants will learn about survivorship resources available to
them through the Connecticut Challenge Survivorship Clinic at Yale Cancer Center and
the HEROS Clinic for Survivors of Pediatric Cancer at Yale.
Yale Cancer Center, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, and the Connecticut
Challenge are sponsors of this year’s Cancer Survivors Day.
